UPDATE 9/18/13: Cinnamon - went to her first adoption event yesterday at the Our Lady of Peace retirement community. She did very well, although she's shy in new situations she settled in pretty quickly. She already has FaceBook admirers thanks to one of the other volunteers who posted her picture & contact info. UPDATE: 9/11/13 ? Cinnamon and her 9 adorable puppies were surrendered in April xxxx. She was very shy when she arrived but she has really come around and wags her little nub of a tail when you say her name or come in her room with a food dish now! She is a precious dog, @3-4 years and @45 pounds (very solid). We don?t know what her life has done to her up until now, but she is missing some teeth. She has a Cattle dog personality: loyal, sweet and gentle. She would make a great family pet and great watch dog too. She will bark to tell you someone has arrived, but she doesn?t bark incessantly (she almost never barks when she is indoors). She is GREAT on a LEASH now, too. She LOVES to receive physical attention and she looks to you for guidance.
Cinnamon is CALM in the house and has EXCELLENT house manners. She seems to be house trained too. She is food motivated, therefore highly trainable. Commands she knows: sit and down but she is very smart and capable of learning much more. All she needs is for her new family to teach her how to be the dog of their dreams. In fact, she loves to be with people and will tap them for attention. (It is very cute.) Cinnamon likes routine and adjusts her speed to your speed when walking?a VERY NICE TRAIT. She has a prey drive but it isn?t a HUGE pray drive.
She is good with cats but not great with unfamiliar dogs, an easy-going dog companion would likely be best. She likes the company of other dogs once she knows who they are but she is not dog park material.
Can be a little bit shy with strangers. She may do well with older, respectful kids. Would prefer a home in the country and may be the kind of dog who would be good off leash ONCE she knows where home is. She enjoys a consistent world and likes to be included in the family life. She is also very sensitive and picks up on her people?s body language. She is good in a crate but nervous in the car.
Cinnamon just completed heartworm treatment and will be spayed on September 24th. And THEN she?ll be all ready for her new forever home!

APR 24, xxxx: Cinnamon, 3yr, female, medium (40 lbs), Australian Cattle Dog mix. Now that Cinnamon's puppies have been weaned she will begin to regain her girlish figure. She is already becoming much more outgoing and friendly since she has gotten a chance to catch up on her sleep. Since she is primarily an ACD (Australian Cattle Dog aka Blue Heeler) she likes to take a little time getting to know new people. While her coloring makes her look like a miniature German Shepherd (with a cropped tail) her smaller size and white feet indicate that she may be mixed with Sheltie.
