SWEET WITH GREAT MANNERS!!! UPDATE: 2/5/14 Roxy is a spayed female, 3½ year old, 50 pound Boxer/Collie mix. She is a GREAT age (out of the puppy stage with great manners) and a GREAT size too. She loves people and she longs for people to call her own again! She would love to be someones constant companion (like she used to be), as she truly enjoys being included in whatever is going on. She has very good in-the-house manners. She loves to share affection with humans, loves to play with toys, and she loves to ride in the car too. She sits for treats and accepts them with a soft mouth and shes good on a leash. Shes a happy, hopeful little soulworthy of being truly valued. HER STORY: In January of xxxx, Roxys elderly owner (who spoiled her) went into a nursing home and had to surrender all five of his dogs. They had all been spayed/ neutered, well cared for, loved and doted upon. They were all very nice, well-mannered, house trained dogs that loved to play and enjoy the company of other dogs but they also loved to get quality time from people. The four other dogs have since been adopted, but sweet Roxy is still waiting for her forever home. In person, Roxy is even cuter than in these photos. She wears a beautiful, soft, short, low maintenance coat and she loves to be caressed. She has such a curious little face (half tan and half whitevery unusual), a fantastic smile with nice white teeth, and very soft ears that she can fold into various origami shapes. In April xxxx she was tried by a family that had cats, an older dog (that didnt want to be bothered with too many play requests), and a toddler. They quickly learned that Roxy was not a fan of their cats (she didnt hurt them but she did posture and growl at them) and she also played a bit too rough with their older dog. Happy to have some toys to play with, Roxy began resourcing guarding the toys too. Anyway, at the request of their cat, the family returned Roxy after two days. Roxy didnt do anything wrong; that family just wasnt a good fit for her. (Roxy seemed okay with the cats in our lobby when we tested her with them, but the cats were calm and not running at the time.) Roxy would thrive in an adult household or one with older children who would throw a ball or Frisbee for her. She loves to play and is so smart and agile that someone could turn her into a real athlete. She would also need some cuddle time because it is what she grew up with and she clearly loves it. She may enjoy having another dog around to play with too (she is not a fan of female dogs but she does seem to like most male dogs). She did real well on a play date we took her to this week with another playful male dog. As always, Roxy will need to live inside a home with her new family and she looks forward to spending many healthy and happy years with them! Good with dogs. Good with kids. Not good with cats.
